Paperny TAM

Inspite of the fact that nowdays team of Paperny TAM band formed only 2 years ago we should consider the history of the group from the year 1989. Right at that time the actor of theatrical studio "At Nikitsky Gate" Alexey Paperny (by the way the descendant of well known russsian literary man) created Association of actors and Musicians (TAM). Having separated from that theater a small team of young actors headed by Alexey Paperny put on the stage rather unusual theatrical action called "Tverbul" which won the first prize in Edinburg Theatrical Festival afterwords (1990). Then there was a chain of prizes in festivals in Ireland and USA (1991), sensation success in New York and Paris (1992), tours in Holland, Sweden, Ausrtia. "…Tverbul is a collage of infectious scenes, images, dreams and hypnotic songs" (NY Times, 6.06.1991) "Music itself is the best part of the play. Alexey Paperny - the author, composer and performer, besides all his talents, has one more mysterious talent of genuine, which we haven't met since yappi times predecessors of hippies"(NY Dayly News, 15.07.1991)

From that time the team and the music style has changed greatly. From ballads in "decadence" style with the cello the group moved to cabare's dancing songs with accordion, and then to hot dancing latin rythms with complicated percussion. Only one person is staying invariable - Alexey Paperny - the harismatic singer with guitar, sincere poet and composer-cosmopolitan. One of the important factors in creative development of the band and of Paperny himself has become the club "Kitaisky Leotchik Jao Da"("Chinese pilot Jao Da") made by Alexey. An amazing place with unusual creative atmosphere gives inspiration to the musicians of the band. Spontaneous jams with musicians of Cesaria Evora, the Skatalites, Manu Chao and others performed in that little homelike club learnt Paperny TAM to be open minded to different music cultures. And nowdays the theatrical nostalgy of Paperny are satisfied in theather-music plays at the club's stage .
Till this moment nobody can define style of Paperny TAM music that's why music critics decided to call it "alternative chanson". In 2002 Paperny TAM signed a contract with "Snegiry" label which released a special series called "chanson with a human face". From that moment the band has transformed from the category "home family theater" to the category "first class unit of the modern Russian music".
Recently there have been a lot of performances which proved huge opportunities of the band -on the international open-air festival "Street of Pilsner Urquel" at the Kremlin Wall, the biggest rock fest in Russia "Kryliya" in Tushino aerodrome, in the "East-West" festival in French town Die.
Just now Paperny TAM is prepairing to recording of their 4th album.

Vladimir Gochua - bass - the member of the first Russian reggae group
Daniil Lentzi -drums, percussion - admires cubian music and popularizes it in Russia
Nikolai Sarabyanov - well known guitar player, participates in plenty of musical projects
